Digest from our QGM, 7 September 2026

We had our QGM yesterday, and a big thank you to Pastor Michael Lear and Rosettenville Baptist Church for graciously hosting us.
Pastor Zak Mbethe, our Coordinator, led us in a devotion, reminding us of the reasons why the Baptist Northern Association exists. Looking at the eight objectives of the Association, he summarised them in this way:
We exist to Show Christ in our Fellowship, Serve Christ in our Partnership, and Share Christ in our Mission.
We were exhorted to make this the foundation of our involvement and to strive to be intentional in making much of Christ through our Association and our partnership together.
Some highlights from our meeting
New Leadership: Jonathan Kilian, Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, was voted in as our new Chairman, and Jacques Louw, Pastor of Pretoria North Baptist Church, was voted in as Vice-Chairman. We pray that the Lord will grant them wisdom, grace, and strength as they serve in these roles.
First Aid Kits: The Executive proposed that each member church within our Association be supplied with a first aid kit and the necessary supplies, in keeping with the relevant government regulations as outlined in the Gazette. This proposal was well received and voted in favour of by the member churches.
Student Theological Fund: The Executive also proposed the establishment of a Student Theological Fund, which will be included in the Association’s annual budget. The purpose of this fund will be to assist churches in training young men for the work of ministry. This proposal was warmly received, with great excitement expressed by the churches. Several pastors also committed to approaching their churches about giving towards this fund.
May the Lord continue to bless the work of the Baptist Northern Association and use it as a source of encouragement and strength to the churches as we seek to fulfil its objectives, for the praise and glory of Christ Jesus.
Soli Deo Gloria! Amen.
